The Orange Line or Delhi Airport Express Line is the Delhi Metro Map line from New Delhi Metro Station via route Dwarka Sector 21, which then connects to Indira Gandhi International Airport.
The line was opened on February 23, 2011, after the four deadlines had already overlapped. Delhi Metro Map Orange line was built at a cost of 57 billion, of which Reliance Infra paid ₹28.85 billion (the US $580m), Reliance Infra will also pay a fee on a revenue-share model.
The total length of the Orange Line is 22.7 km, of which 15.7 km is underground and 7 km is elevated, from Buddha Jayanti Park to Mahipalpur. Orange Line Delhi Metro’s maximum speed is up to 135 km/h, instead of 80 km/h on the rest of the metro. The journey time from New Delhi to the airport Terminal 2, and Terminal 3, is 19 minutes.
The service of Orange Line on Delhi Metro Map was suspended from 7 July 2012 to 22 January 2013 due to technical problems. After reopening, the speed was cut to only 50 km / h, increasing the travel time from the airport to New Delhi station to more than 40 minutes. On 27 June 2013 Reliance Infrastructure Ltd. Announced to DMRC that they are unable to operate the line beyond 30 June 2013.
In view of this, the DMRC took over the operation of the Airport Express Line and the operations and maintenance team of 100 officers from 1 July 2013. In mid-2014 the DMRC restored speeds of 80 km / h on the line. In January 2015, the DMRC reported that Airport Express or Orange Line recorded a nearly 30 percent increase in its ridership after a 40% decrease last July.
