The Kochi Metro is a rapid transit system serving the city of Kochi in Kerala, India. Kochi Metro was opened to the public within four years of starting construction, making it the fastest completion metro project in India until the Lucknow Metro overtook it.
The Kochi Metro Project is the first metro in the country to connect rail, road, and water transport facilities. The estimated cost of the first phase is Rs.51.81 billion (US $ 730 million). The Kochi Metro was named the Best Urban Mobility Project in India in October 2017 by the Ministry of Urban Development, part of the Urban Mobility India (UMI) International Conference organized by the Ministry every year.

Kochi Metro Phase 2 Extensions : Kakkanad Infopark
In November 2016, KMRL began the process of land acquisition for the extension of the metro to InfoPark. KMRL will widen the Kakkanad-Airport corridor to a 22-meter-wide stretch, and construct a metro pillar at the center of the stretch. Palarivattom Junction, Palarivattom Bypass Junction, and Collectorate Junction will also be widened. The 11.2 km (7.0 mi) extension will connect Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium to Infopark via Kakkanad and is estimated to cost Rs.2,024 crore (US $ 280 million). Of the District Collector of Ernakulam. Mohammad Y. Safirulla said in March 2017, the land evaluation process for the project was completed.
Kochi Metro Phase 3 Extension : Airport Extension
The third phase of the metro includes plans to extend the line from Aluva to Cochin International Airport to Nedumbassery. Airport officials had requested that the state government build the metro link in the second phase, but the government decided to take it in the third phase instead.
